A big thanks to Mrs. Maxson for making the Brainstormers assembly happen! And also, thank you for the PTO and Michigan Humanities Council. The Brainstormers were hilarious and taught us how to come up with stories in our head to write on our own. There were three very talented and comical actors that taught us the important components of making an interesting story that your readers will love! The Incredible Write-O-Matic was a special invention that made us think about the important components to make up a great story: characters, setting, activities, problem, solution, and title.
They had us singing along "Think it up...Write it Down!" We will hope to take their ideas and lessons on writing into our very own classroom. We can't wait to make up some of our own stories using these ideas. Laila got to participate in one of the stories we (students in the audience) created with characters, setting, etc. She was the policeman character in the story and did such a fantastic job! She was totally in her element and was such a great little actress! Yay Laila!

Bridger dressed as a Christmas elf! What a cute costume! This got us in the Christmas spirit. Below are pictures of writing and Christmas art projects in our classroom. We have been working hard on our writing and we are all doing a great job at stretttttching out those sounds we hear while writing. Keep up the great work! Our Polar Express Pajama Party was a blast! We had so much fun and were busy all day long! In the morning we did Polar Express stations where we rotated between Kindergarten classrooms. We split into three groups : the reindeer, snowmen, and elves. We were able to be in groups with Kindergartners from OTHER classrooms and we had so much fun interacting with new friends! In our classroom, we made Polar Express trains. In Mrs. Stoel's class we made snowflakes. In Miss Martin's class we made bell necklaces. After stations and lunch, all Kindergartners met in Mrs. Stoel's classroom for the movie Polar Express and enjoyed some hot cocoa with marshmallows and cookies/treats. Thank you to all parents who helped donate treats or anything for the party. This was very much appreciated and the students really enjoyed a cozy time in their pj's watching the movie. What a fun day that we will remember! Thank you for all of you who helped their child put together a "Dozen Day" collection. It was so much fun to share these and see what you could find to glue onto our paper for "Dozen Day." We did quite a few activities today. We made a "Dozen Day" book, we did a dozen math problems, we did a dozen exercises and we shared our dozen collection with everyone. What a fun filled, yet educational day! My posts are a little behind. Please forgive me for it has been a busy few weeks! Mrs. Cronk came to visit again to teach us about earth materials. We learned about clay, silt, dirt, pebbles, sand, and humus. It was so much fun to be able to dig our hands in these materials and really explore. We used our 5 senses to get to know each earth material. Mrs. Cronk always does a great job teaching us science. She makes it fun with songs and hands on experiences! We can't wait for her to come back and see us again!
