To continue working on our letter sound P, we wore our pajamas to school! We had fun celebrating the letter P and looking at everyone's pajamas. We graphed how many people wore long-sleeve or short-sleeve pajamas. We graphed how many people wore a robe or didn't wear a robe. We also graphed how many people wore slippers or didn't wear slippers. Our graphs showed that we had more long-sleeved pajamas, less robes, and less slippers. It was a cozy day full of learning :)

Last Tuesday we hosted our own "Election Day" in Miss Fausett's Kindergarten classroom. We discussed what an important day it was and how people over 18 were able to vote for a president. We then decided it would be fun to vote on something important to us...indoor or outdoor recess! We all registered to vote in the morning. Then, in the afternoon our class waited in line to place our vote. Each student got to vote in the hallway where it was private and no one looked at what they were voting for. The votes are in....and the result was OUTDOOR RECESS!!
Every Friday at 1:20 we have our 4th grade reading buddy time. Each student has a reading buddy (or 2!) and we split up into my classroom or Mr. Rienstra's classroom in 4th grade. We use the TumbleBook library online to practice listening to reading with our buddies. If you don't see your child in these pictures, it's because they are in Mr. Rienstra's class or were absent the day I took pictures. We will switch partners and classrooms half way through the year. This means those that are in Mr. Rienstra's classroom will have the opportunity to be in my classroom and the ones that are in my classroom will go to Mr. Rienstra's. The kids love reading buddies! It is nice to see them making friends and interacting with another grade level at our school.
On Wednesday, 10/31 we had our Fall Party! We did a couple of activities, played a ghost flip and graph game, played musical chairs to a "Monster Mash Kid's Mix" that I created, listened to fall stories, ate some yummy treats, and colored in pumpkins. I would say that we all had a great time :) A special shout out to Ryleigh and her family! Although Ryleigh was sick for our Fall Party, her family still brought in special fall cookies for us to enjoy. And boy did we enjoy them! You guys are too sweet!
We are now on week 6 of Math RtI groups. We are working on addition concepts, number writing, and ten frames. We are organized into groups of 5. I have a group, another paraprofessional has a group, one group is on the computers, and the last group is an independent group. All groups are working on these concepts and we rotate. Students get to each group once a week. Here are some pictures of our Math RtI groups from last week. We do center choice time for 25 minutes every day from 2:25-2:50. Students have the choice of puzzles, games, math games, writing or drawing and labeling, unifix cubes, playing with shapes, cars, blocks, legos, etc. Everyday they can make a new choice and also choose if they want to do centers independently or collaboratively with friends. Here are some pictures I took last week. |
