What a day full of love! It was fun telling each other how much we care for one another and sharing things or people we care about in our life! Thank you for parents who helped bring in candy, cups, napkins, cookies, juic and fruit! Maya's mom cut up an enormous heart shaped plate filled with yummy watermelon and strawberries. This was great for the kids to have a delicious snack that was healthy. Kudos!
We started our day writing about people or things we care a lot about. We shared with one another and my heart was warmed listening to them talk about their friends and family who they love. They also thought it was fun to do our writing on PINK paper for a fun change :) Next, we did some candy heart graphing. They sorted and graphed what colors they were given. Also, we recorded what colors we had with tallies. We discussed how many we had altogether, which color had the most, which color had the least, etc. They loved this activity but I think they loved to eat them even more! At the end of the day we passed out our yummy snacks and the excitement began while we opened up our valentines! It was fun to see the kind words being shared among our community of learners. What an exciting day!

We have had quite a few February birthdays already! Thank you for parents who have brought treats in. The parents who were able to bring treats in I asked to bring a special story of their child's to read to the class. The kids have loved this! It is so fun for the kids to hear another reading voice in our classroom. Thank you! Below are pictures of Ivy's mom reading to our class on Ivy's birthday.
Mrs. Cronk came to visit again and we again learned so much from her! She taught us about living vs. non-living things. We read a pattern book to show if things were living or non-living. We each got a turn to sort pictures on the living or non-living side of the rug. We also got to sort (and pet!) living and non-living items in our classroom. These included a real toad, turtle, dead flowers, a stuffed squirrel, a stuffed owl, and more! It was fun to learn about each item and decide together if it was living or non-living. Thank you to Mrs. Cronk for making us smarter and to continue to realize how much fun science is!
Thank you for donating cereal boxes to our classroom! We have been reading away in our classroom. Miss Fausett's wise owls are amazing me each and every day with what great readers they are becoming! Every one has their own "Just Right" book box. They get to choose 5 books at their reading level to keep in their box at all times. On our show and tell/ word ring day we get to book shop and choose new books to put in our box. We love them! Thank you!
